Who Stole My Wagon?

I have decided I would start a diet blog, after all, it is probable that there isn't a diet in this whole entire universe that I have not tried; excluding 'the tapeworm diet', although it speaks volumes that I have read up on the effectiveness of it.
Truth be told not one of them has really worked for me, I mean sure I have lost weight, be it through weekly 'fat club' meetings or by restricting my calorie or by replacing meals with shakes or some other diet which completely consumed me... but do I have the body I desire, A body just like effortlessly slim and gorgeous girls on Instagram posing in their teeny tiny bikinis... nope. Have I just ate my packed lunch despite it only being 11 am with the intention of buying a second lunch come 1 pm ... abso-freaking-lutely.

I have started this blog with the intention of sharing all my foodie experiences; be it my overindulgent cheese pie recipe or my yo-yo diet experiences. There is also a part of me that secretly whispers to myself that I will somehow become much cooler if I begin to post a blog. After all, everybody knows that bloggers are really cool hip people who sit on their laptops in cafes sipping an 'iced chai tea soy bean latte' or something equally as hipster and cool.
When my friends ask me what I am doing this evening I can reply "just working on my blog".
Well maybe not this evening as I have my best friend over for dinner, this is also something that sounds much more adult and chic than it will be. The reality is that we will eat carbs, drink wine and try to get Siri to give us funny responses by asking questions like "Hey Siri, do you have a boyfriend?". However, my Instagram will reflect a whole different, sophisticated mid-week dinner party.

So back to the diet thing, I am very much what you would call 'off the wagon' at the moment - in fact, I think somebody has stolen my wagon and sold it for scrap metal, my diet is somewhat uncontrolled. This is down to a number of things in my opinion. The first reason excuse is the calorie controlled diet that I put myself on last month, for about 4 weeks I had restricted my calories to 700 calories a day and had to have burnt 2500 calories each day on my Fitbit... yes I know, I know not all that healthy but I did lose a fair amount of weight. Week 3 and 4 the weight loss naturally slowed down. This lead to me chucking the whole thing out the window, deciding to 'love my curves' and eating the equivalent weight of a baby elephant in junk food and I just haven't really stopped eating since. The second reason excuse is that I have just returned from a few days in Greece, and it would be totally ignorant to visit another country and not experience all of the local food, despite only being there for two days I had to try the Kleftico, Stifado, Dolmades, Fasolatha, Mousaka, Feta Cheese Pie, and eat as many Gyros Kebabs as possible... because of well.. culture. My final reason excuse is simply because it is just who I am; A Foodie, Greedy,  A lover of all things edible, A Duchess VonPie.

I have every intention of going and buying a new wagon in the upcoming days or possibly weeks and getting an anti-theft device for this one. Starting a new 'diet' or 'eating plan' or 'weight loss lifestyle' or whatever it may be that I decide upon to give me my Instagram worthy body ready for my next holiday and I will be posting about it right here.

Thanks for reading, I hope that you deem my blog worthy of a return visit.

Duchess VonComfortFood's Bubble & Squeak Recipe

WARNING: The following recipe is not diet friendly, it does not contain Quinoa, Kale, Avacado, Aduki Beans or any other superfoods. This is stodgy, feel good recipe suitable your once a month ride on the cotton pony or to be used as a starchy buttery adhesive to mend a broken heart, or just because you have had to endure a whole Monday at work and you have done nothing at all to deserve that kind of torture. If you are on a diet and choose to read on I will take no responsibility for your failure . The recipe I want to share with you is my favorite comforting food, I have always had a knack for throwing things together in the kitchen. I like to think of myself as a culinary cocktail genius but this one is very much inspired by my partners Mum. She is Irish and as a result of growing up in Ireland, she often cooks with potatoes and thus she makes a mean Bubble & Squeak. My version is slightly altered but I think I do it justice. Ingredients  - Gammon or Bacon ...

A Diet to Match my Personalities

Some days I am  'Healthy Zen VonPie' and I want to fuel my body with foods that will nourish, I can see the benefits of foods like Nuts & Avocado which are high in fats and calorie dense but full of essential nutrients and vitamins in order for my body to flourish and feel its best, I avoid processed foods or foods with added sugars. Some days I am 'Piggy VonPie', these days I refuse to feel guilty about anything I choose to ram down my cake hole, I eat an array of breakfasts which throughout the morning slowly merge into lunch, I buy cakes for the office because we deserve cakes some times chocolates too. Come dinner time I get my chef on and cook something beautifully indulgent, usually cheesy, but always carb loaded and serve it with crusty bread and real butter. Other days I am 'Calorie Count VonPie' I restrict my calories, usually to somewhere between 500-700. On these days the mere thought of eating an egg without first removing the yolk is beyond...
